about other topics:

From 1969 to 1973 I went to Georgetown University; during that entire time I was on the staff of the campus radio station WGTB.  (Anyone remember "The Nickel Bag"?) The actual article contains some astounding pictures of the staff I worked with then and now; it certainly put my personal history into some perspective!  (I wasn't part of the news collective - I was on the music staff and playing jazz, blues and progressive rock.)

The official WGTB web page is a labor of love by Jerry "Strider" Schell.

There is another WGTB web site, consisting mostly of the January 29, 1999 City Paper article, and some graphics. The webmaster is Dave Hughes (dcrtv@geocities.com).

Barry Bonds has finally gotten his godfather (Willie Mays) to leave him alone about his home run production. Like him or not, he's one of the many bright spots on this year's team - go Giants!

A brilliant parody of Yahoo!

David Gerrold has been writing Science Fiction for a long time. He's the author of the most popular Star Trek episode ever - "The Trouble With Tribbles", as well as the author of a number of Hugo and Nebula award winners.   His "War with the Chtorr" series is always a great read - or reread.

The Movie Cliches list...

The Silicon Zoo; an amazing collection of images.

TheLast Page on the Internet - the end of the line!

Heroic Stories is a regularly published newsletter sharing moving, inspring stories.

then there's the computer stuff...

I happen to think that these guys have produced a brilliant piece of software!  Copernic has a free, downloadable multi-engine search tool.  In other words, type your search term into Copernic and it queries AltaVista, Excite, Yahoo! and a bunch of others, then weights the results.

The folks at Ace Electronics always have a great selection of computers way cheaper than retail.  Laptops.  Desktops.  Always worth browsing.

How many times have you received e-mail with dire warnings from someone who bought into the scare in the latest go-round of any of the urban myths that keep showing up?  Here's a great site - they debunk all the myths!

Hoaxbusters from the CIAC: these guys are basically the OFFICIAL resource on viruses, hoaxes, myths, worms, etc.

What with all the worries about computer security, here's a free tool available for personal use from Zone Labs known as Zone Alarm; the tool is designed to ensure that the only programs on your computer that access the internet are those you want to have access the Internet.   A smart addition to your security collection.

I rely on Woody Leonhardt's newsletters to give me the straight poop on what is going on with Microsoft products! I own at least a few of his books, and highly respect anything he and his folk do. They have 6 different free newsletters on the various Microsoft products out there at WoodysWatch.Com

Another great resource is Fred Langa's award winning e-newsletter. In the very near future I am going to "load the code" and put in a really cool link to his site. Maybe even get my name mentioned in his newsletter!

Then there's news about the Handspring Visor, courtesy of Visor Central:
