Helping the Environment; Youth of Ethiopia

Posted on 31. Dec, 2009 by Nadia in Community Projects, Documentaries

This video tells the story of Gashaw Tahir – from his upbringing in a small town in Ethopia, to moving to the United States, to doing the Landmark Forum, to returning to Ethiopia. There he inspired the local youths to get involved in helping the environment – he ended up starting a widely recognized, huge tree planting program that helped with soil erosion, deforestation and providing jobs. The second video continues the story.

Out of this work to help the environment, Gashaw Tahir founded the Greenland Foundation and was awarded an environmental citizen award by the United Nations - see this story from yesterday about Tahir on Landmark Education News.
